Shielded metallic bearing (Z)

Metallic or shielded bearings (ending with the code Z or ZZ) have a metallic seal in both sides that does not touch the inner ring. This seal of shielded bearings prevents grease from escaping and moderately protects against the entry of dirt, although it does not prevent the entry of finer dirt or water.

Their greatest advantage is that they do not have friction with the inner ring, so they are ideal for high performance and/or speed applications where we want minimal friction. If the bearing is going to be inside a machine where water or dirt does not enter, they are the best option.
